Badlands or Yellowstone?

I am taking a cross country trip from NJ to CA stopping by Chicago, Colorado, Glacier National Park, Seattle, Portland, San Fran, LA, and various other places along the way. My predicament is, due to time restrictions, I can only visit Yellowstone or the Badlands on my journey from Colorado to Glacier National Park. I heard Yellowstone was way to commercialized and the Badlands is much cooler. What are your opinions. I've looked at pictures of both and they both seem spectacular. I'll only be there for a day of hiking and a night of sleep. Thanks for the input.
