How do i rename my pet on WoW?

i spent hours try to find cranky benj (the super rare turtle) when i found him i noticed he looked exactly like my other pet. i took the "e" out of his name and told my party member they looked the same and showed him. i went to change his name to benj when i found out i couldn't anymore. how do i change it now?
